WASHINGTON, D.C. – The University of Dayton volleyball defeated George Washington with a five-set comeback win (25-16, 25-27, 16-25, 25-17, 15-8).
Tied at nine apiece in the opening set, the Flyers went on a six-point run to take an early lead, fueled by blocking efforts. Dayton took a lead to start the second set, but the Revolutionaries pushed to tie the match at 15-15 before taking the lead. The Flyers responded to level the set at 18, beginning a back-and-forth before George Washington ultimately won the set.
In the third, GW took an early lead and kept out in front to take the 2-1 advantage. After the Flyers stormed back to win the fourth set with another decisive score, Dayton won the match in a close fifth set.
