Men's Soccer To Play Road Finale At George Washington Saturday

Flyers and Revs Squaring Off at 3 p.m. in D.C.

DAYTON - The University of Dayton men's soccer team will head to the nation's capital tomorrow to take on George Washington in Atlantic 10 Conference action. The Flyers and Revs will kickoff just after 3 p.m. on Oct. 25 in UD's final road match of the season.

ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (4-2-7, 2-1-3 A-10) went 1-0-1 last week, including a 2-2 tie against St. Bonaventure at home in A-10 action last Saturday night. Eleven different Flyers have scored a goal this season, led by senior Ethan Sassine with seven (54th NCAA), while junior Martin Bakken has tallied a team-best three assists. Senior Gavin Krenecki has recorded seven shutouts (9th NCAA) over 12 matches in goal and he carries a 0.58 GAA (7th NCAA) with a 0.844 save percentage (5th NCAA).

SCOUTING GEORGE WASHINGTON
George Washington (2-10-3, 0-6-0 A-10) stepped out of conference play on Tuesday, drawing with UMBC, 3-3, at GW Soccer Field. The Revolutionaries are looking to record their first league win of the season Saturday night. The GW offense is led by Louis Crofts with four goals and Alex Nicholson with three assists. In goal for the Revs, Tom Macauley has worked a total of 1,241 minutes with a 1.96 GAA while his 68 total saves ranks sixth in all of DI.

SERIES STUFF
Dayton Leads, 11-6-5
In last year's meeting between the Flyers and Revolutionaries, Dayton posted a 7-1 win over visiting George Washington at Baujan Field on Oct. 5, UD's second A-10 match of the season. Then-sophomore Martin Bakken recorded his first career hat to go with one assist for a career-high seven points in the match.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton and St. Bonaventure played to a 2-2 draw last weekend on Alumni Night at Baujan Field. Senior Ethan Sassine netted the first goal of the match in the 11th minute, assisted by junior Braden Seel. The Flyers fell behind, 2-1, in the second half but Seel scored the equalizer in the 67th minute. Senior goalkeeper Gavin Krenecki equaled his career high with six saves on the night.

RPI RANKINGS
In the NCAA's most recent DI Rating Percentage Index (RPI) through games on Oct. 23, Dayton ranked 133rd according to NCAA.com. George Washington came in at 202.

FLYER FACTS
• Dennis Currier is in his 21st season as head coach of the Flyers in 2025. His record at Dayton is 198-125-68 (.593) and his career win-loss mark sits at 386-174-80 (.667) over a total of 33 seasons. Currier has tallied the program's most wins (198) and most winning seasons (13).
• On Sept. 15, Farouq Ogundare picked up his first career Atlantic 10 weekly award after being named the league's Rookie of the Week. Following the first week of the season, three Flyers were recognized by the A-10. Ethan Sassine was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week, Gavin Krenecki garnered Defensive Player of the Week accolades and Mikkel Madsen secured the Rookie of the Week honor on Aug. 25.
• Five Flyers were named to the 2025 Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Conference Team: Andrew Armstrong, Martin Bakken, Miles Bonham, Ethan Sassine and Paul Yeboah.
• Dayton has won the Atlantic 10 Regular Season title four times (1998, 2000, 2009, 2020). The Flyers have captured the A-10 Championship title six times (1997, 1998, 2008, 2015, 2023, 2024) resulting in six appearances in the NCAA Tournament. Over 23 appearances in the A-10 Tournament, UD has tallied a 23-11-5 record in the conference postseason championship, reaching the title match nine times.
• The Flyers finished the 2024 season with a 14-3-3 overall record and a 5-1-2 conference mark, finishing in second place in regular-season play. 

UP NEXT
Dayton will close out its 2025 regular-season schedule Saturday, Nov. 1 against Loyola Chicago in Dayton. The Flyers and Ramblers will get underway just after 7 p.m. at UD's Baujan Field and admission is free.
