DAYTON - The University of Dayton football team will head back out on the road to take on the University of San Diego Saturday, Nov. 1 at 4 p.m. ET at Torero Stadium in California.
Dayton is receiving eight votes in the latest Stats Perform FCS Top 25 poll after the Flyers' big upset win over No. 16/19 Presbyterian last week. The Flyers are 6-2 overall and 4-1 in Pioneer Football League play. UD has been successful on the road this year though, going 4-1 away from home and winning three-straight away contests.
San Diego is coming off a big win last outing and sits at 4-4 on the season. The Toreros are 2-2 in PFL games and 2-2 at Torero Stadium this year. San Diego holds league wins over St. Thomas and Davidson, as well as a victory over No. 24 Southern Utah in overtime.Â
SERIES HISTORY
Dayton and San Diego are meeting for the 30th time in program history with the Flyers holding a series advantage of 16-13. Last year's matchup resulted in a 16-10 win for the Toreros at Dayton on Nov. 9.Â
LAST OUTING
• Dayton earned its first win over a ranked opponent since 2019 with a 35-19 victory over No. 16/19 Presbyterian last Saturday at Welcome Stadium.
Gavin Lochow had 174 all-purpose yards while
Vincent Firenze had 14 tackles to lead the way.Â
• San Diego got back on the winning track with a 40-28 victory at Davidson Saturday. The Toreros struck first at the end of the first and traded blows with the Wildcats until the fourth, when San Diego outscored Davidson 12-0.

• The Flyers currently lead the PFL in numerous categories across all three phases of the game including blocked kicks, blocked punts, defensive touchdowns, fumbles lost, passes had intercepted, passes intercepted, scoring defense, turnover margin, turnovers gained, and turnovers lost.Â
• Dayton also ranks top five nationally in fourth down conversion rate, fourth down defense, blocked punts allowed, defensive touchdowns, passes had intercepted, passes intercepted, turnover margin, turnovers gained, and turnovers lost.Â

FIRENZE EARNS STATS PERFORM FCS DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
• Redshirt sophomore
Vincent Firenze not only earned PFL Defensive Player of the Week for the second time on Oct. 26, but he also earned national Defensive Player of the Week accolades after recording a career-high 14 tackles in the upset over No. 16/19 Presbyterian.
