DAYTON -Â The University of Dayton women's basketball program hosts Canisius University Friday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. at UD Arena. It will be the Flyers' final game before the Thanksgiving Break.Â
SCOUTING THE FLYERSÂ
Dayton enters the contest at 2-2 overall and 1-1 in home games. The Flyers are coming off a hard-fought loss to Belmont Sunday, but had won two prior to that outing.Â
Head coach
Tamika Williams-Jeter finished her fourth season in charge of her hometown Flyers, coming over after a year at Wittenberg. She has assistant coaching stops at Kansas, Kentucky, Penn State, and Ohio State.Â
The Flyers are averaging 74.8 points per game while holding opponents to 67.3 points each outing. Dayton is shooting 49.8 percent overall, 30.6 percent from three point range, and 71.6 percent from the free throw line. UD benefits from a +8.3 rebounding margin, but faces a -5.8 turnover deficit.Â

Nayo Lear leads the way with 17.0 points and 64.1 percent shooting while junior
Fatima Ibrahim is a double-double threat with 13.3 points and 8.8 boards each contest. Sophomore
Olivia Leung has started all four games and is chipping in 11.5 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.Â
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
CANISIUS
Canisius enters the matchup still in pursuit of their first win of the season, with an 0-5 record. The Golden Griffins will travel to UD Arena for their first-ever meeting with the Flyers. Last season, Canisius had a record of 5-10 on the road.
Head Coach Tiffany Swoffard is in her second season as head coach of the Griffins, having been named the 11th head coach in Canisius women's basketball history in 2024.
Offensively, the Griffins are averaging 52.4 points per game, shooting 40.4 percent from the field, 35.5 percent from three-point range, and 74.4 percent at the free throw line.
Shariah Gailes has paced the Griffins early this season, recording 63 points on the season so far, averaging 12.6 points per game. She has also earned 30 rebounds in the first five games of the season.
LAST TIME OUT
Dayton faced off against the reigning WBIT runners-up in Belmont Sunday at home and fell 72-66 in a tough battle. The Flyers trailed by 10 at halftime and narrowed the gap to two with a strong third, but were unable to complete the comeback.Â
Canisius came up short in a 62-50 loss at home to Cornell last Sunday. The Griffins were perfect from the line and shot 47.5 percent from the floor, but allowed the visitors to shoot 52 percent.Â
