#UDWSOC Punches Ticket To A-10 Title Match With 1-0 Win Over Fordham

The Flyers Host No. 4 Seed Rhode Island At Noon On Sunday

DAYTON – A goal from senior Kyra Karfonta on a penalty kick in the ninth minute was all the University of Dayton women's soccer team needed to dispatch No. 6 seed Fordham in the Atlantic 10 Championship semifinal on Wednesday night, beating the Rams 1-0 at Baujan Field.
 
The win improves the Flyers' record to 15-3-2 on the season and punches their ticket to the A-10 Championship final on Sunday at noon. As the tournament's No. 1 seed, UD will host the match at Baujan Field.
 
A foul drawn inside the penalty box by sophomore Lauryn Contini set up the penalty opportunity for Karfonta, who is now 3-for-3 on the season in PKs.
 
The shutout was the 14th on the season for senior keeper Batoul Reda and the Dayton defense. The Dearborn, Mich. native saw nine total shots and two on-goal in the match.
 
Dayton held the advantage in shots overall (17 to 9) and shots on goal (5 to 2).
