DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's volleyball team capped off its senior recognition celebration with a five-set win over VCU (14-25, 25-21, 25-27, 25-19, 15-10).
The win also solidifies the Flyers' position as first place in the Atlantic 10, becoming the regular season champions for the third consecutive year.
This was UD's last home match that went to five since Aug. 30, 2024, when the Flyers won against UNI in the Flyer Invitational.
A seven-point run for the Rams set the visitors up to take a 1-0 lead. In the second set, Kamryn Hunt had three aces in a row, bookended by kills from Liana Sarkissian to take a narrow 9-7 lead. After VCU tied the set at 12 apiece, Dayton kept out in front, tying the match.
Despite tying the third set 11 times, VCU was able to move back out in front. Down 12-6, the Flyers mounted an impressive comeback, going on a seven-point run to lead 13-12 in the fourth set. UD continued to pull ahead to force a fifth set.
After a back-and-forth to start the fifth, Dayton broke out with a five-point run for a 13-8 lead. VCU chipped away at the lead, but errors by the Rams locked up the win for the Flyers.
