#FlyBoys Rally To Top Ohio In 12 Innings, 10-9

Freshman Rylan Lujo Smashed Two Home Runs And Scored Four Runs

ATHENS, Ohio – The University of Dayton baseball team tallied 19 hits en route to a 10-9 extra innings victory over Ohio University on Tuesday night at Bob Wren Stadium.

In the top of the 12th with runners on first and third and the game knotted at 9-9, the FlyBoys scratched out a run when a pickoff throw from the Bobcats went awry, allowing sophomore Michael DiMartini to score from third.

Freshman Rylan Lujo lit up the stat sheet blasting the first two home runs of his career while also hitting a double and a single, driving in four. The Coconut Creek, Fla. native was intentionally walked in the 12th after DiMartini reached, stole second, and moved to third on a throwing error, setting up the fateful failed pickoff attempt.

Senior Mason Dobie reached base six times with four hits and a pair of walks, while DiMartini had four hits including two triples, one walk, and a pair of RBI.

Ohio jumped ahead early building a 3-0 lead Lujo smashed his first career home run and put Dayton on the board.

In the top of the fourth, DiMartini tripled to right, scoring redshirt junior Alejandro Cazorla. Two batters later Lujo reached on a fielder's choice to bring in Dimartini and an RBI single from Dobie put UD on top.

The Flyers added to their lead in the sixth when sophomore Martin Howell singled through the left side to drive in Lujo.

After Ohio re-took the lead at 8-6 courtesy of a four-run eighth, Lujo struck again with a clutch two-run home run to knot the score once again.

In the top of the ninth, Lujo crushed a two-run homer to left-center, bringing in M. Dimartini. Then, in the tenth, Dimartini delivered again with an RBI single to right, scoring Junior Aiden Heberlie on an unearned run.

Freshman southpaw Lukasz Rondeau pitched the final two innings and struck out five to earn his first collegiate victory.
