RICHMOND, Va.— The University of Dayton men's tennis team defeated rival VCU on the road to make it 15 wins in a row at the Thalhimer Tennis Center Friday afternoon. Making this the first time UD has ever defeated VCU in men's tennis.
The Flyers started the day by dropping the doubles point, losing both matches by a narrow 6-4 margin.
However, Dayton responded with an impressive comeback in singles play, securing four victories to clinch the match. Freshman Sturle Skiglestrand dramatically sealed the win, taking a three-set battle at No. 4. Sophomore
Kyle McNally set the tone with a solid performance at No. 1, winning 6-4, 6-2. At No. 2, fellow sophomore
Mikkel Zinder bounced back after losing the first set, ultimately prevailing 2-6, 6-4, 6-0. Sophomore
Sai Dore kept the momentum going for UD with a commanding 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 3.
