LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Dayton baseball team came up short on the road at Bellarmine on Tuesday, 6-4, despite a two home run output from sophomore slugger
Michael DiMartini at Knights Field.
DiMartini, the Pittsburgh, Pa. native, finished the game 3-for-4 with four RBI and a walk. He's now homered in the last two games and is hitting .538 with five home runs in the last week.
The FlyBoys fell behind out of the gate as the Knights scored three runs in the second and another two in the third. Dayton trailed 6-0 after three when DiMartini connected on his first home run of the game, a two-run blast, to bring the score to 6-2.
In the seventh, DiMartini hit his second of the game to bring the deficit to three, and the sophomore came through once again two innings later with an RBI single.
Unfortunately the Flyers were unable to cash in when they needed it most, stranding nine runners in the game.
