Baseball Falters In Finale With Bryant, 7-4

Freshman Rylan Lujo Led The Flyers With Three Hits

DAYTON – The University of Dayton Flyers fell in the finale of its weekend series with Bryant, 7-4, on Sunday afternoon at Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium.

The Bulldogs started the game with a two-spot on a home run, but the lead was short-lived as the FlyBoys put three runs of their own together in the bottom of the first. Michael DiMartini came home on a wild pitch, Rylan Lujo scored from a sacrifice fly, and Dyrenson Wouters drove home Ryan MacDougall with a single. Dayton ended the first inning ahead 3-2.

Both teams were scoreless in the second and third innings when Bryant got its second two-run homer of the day to regain the lead in the top of the fourth. Dayton quickly responded once again in the bottom of the inning when an Alejandro Sardinas RBI fielder's choice scored by Martin Howell.

The Bulldogs added single runs in the sixth, seventh and ninth innings and held the Flyers' offense in check the rest of the way.

Lujo's three hits led the way for the Flyers, while Michael DiMartini reached base four times (2 hits, 2 walks). Dyrenson Wouters also finished the game with a pair of hits and drove in a run.
