Baseball Flies High in 10–8 Win Over Bobcats

Adin Zorn And Martin Howell Both Homered In The Win

DAYTON - The University of Dayton baseball team pulled out a close win over Ohio, 10-8, at home Tuesday evening in non-conference action at Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium.

Trailing 5-0 after two innings, sophomore Adin Zorin got the Flyers in the run column thanks to a two-run homer, his fifth of the season. The Bobcats pushed their advantage to four with a single run in the third, and that's when UD's comeback began.

Dayton chipped away at the lead in the fourth thanks to an RBI from freshman Alejandro Sardinas. Fellow freshman Ty Mainolfi singled home another in the Flyers' next at-bat to make the score 6-4. With two on and two out, sophomore Michael DiMartini doubled, driving in a pair and knotting the score at 6-6.

The back and forth continued in the sixth with the Bobcats tallying two runs at the top of the inning. In the bottom of the inning, sophomore Martin Howell swatted a solo shot to center to bring the Flyers within one. With two outs and two on, sophomore Ryan MacDougall came through with a clutch two-run single to put Dayton ahead 9-8.

Manolfi came through once again an inning later, smacking a single to left field to bring home Howell and give the Flyers a 10–8 lead.

Freshman Ben Dean secured his third save of the season, striking out a pair in the ninth inning.
