RICHMOND, Ky. – The University of Dayton baseball team stormed back from an early deficit and held on late to top Eastern Kentucky 7-6 in non-conference action on Tuesday night at Earle Combs Stadium.
The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the FlyBoys, who move back over the .500 mark for the season and are now 22-21.
Four Flyers had multi-hit performances, including three-hit showings from sophomores
Ryan MacDougall (3-for-4) and
Adin Zorn (3-for-5). Zorn and senior
Mason Dobie each drove in a pair of runs, while MacDougall, redshirt sophomore
Bobby Stang and freshman
Alejandro Sardinas each crossed the plate twice.
Freshman
Michael Dudolski picked up his second win of the season, while fellow rookie
Hector Escobar tossed the final two innings, including a 1-2-3 ninth, to earn his first save.
EKU jumped ahead with a pair of runs in the first inning, but UD fought back with a pair in the fourth. The Colonels fought right back to regain the lead, but the Flyers did not go quietly.
Dayton plated three runs thanks to five singles to take a 5-3 lead, and added two more in the sixth courtesy of two hits and an Eastern error to make it 7-4.
Eastern Kentucky plated two runs in the eighth to tighten things up, but Escobar came through with a perfect ninth to finish off the home team.
