Men's Tennis Drops Davidson, 4-1, To Advance To A-10 Championship Match

No. 1 Dayton Takes On No. 2 VCU At 5:30 P.M. On Saturday

LAKE NONA, Fla. – The University of Dayton men's tennis team triumphed over No. 5 seed Davidson, 4-1, in the semi-final of the Atlantic 10 Championship on Friday night at the USTA National Training Center.

The victory sets up a date in the Atlantic 10 Championship match against No. 2 seed VCU, who topped Richmond 4-2 on Friday.

Dayton locked in a thriller with Davidson from the outset, winning the doubles point in comeback fashion. After the Flyers and Wildcats split No. 2 and 3, with UD's second pair of Kyle McNally and Brady Hussey winning 6-0, Dayton found itself behind at the No. 1 pair.

Sophomores Mikkel Zinder and Eric Suk battled back to force a tiebreak, then pushed through to give UD the crucial doubles point with a 7-6 (3) win.

In singles, McNally pushed his season win total to 26 with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 1. Freshman Sturle Skigelstrand won at No. 4, 6-4, 6-2, and fellow freshman Brady Hussey clinched the match for the Flyers with a 6-1, 7-5 victory at No. 5.
