DAYTON – The University of Dayton softball team is set to close out the road portion of its 2025 schedule this weekend with a three-game Atlantic 10 series at Saint Joseph's. The Flyers and Hawks will play a doubleheader Saturday, April 26, followed by a single game on Sunday. Both are slated to get underway at 12 p.m. at SJU Softball Field and admission is free.

ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (24-16, 12-5 A-10) heads into the weekend having already played three games this week, falling 3-2 at Northern Kentucky Tuesday before taking two from Akron Wednesday. On offense, senior Emma Schutter (.382) leads five everyday players hitting above .300 with a team-high 50 hits, 37 runs, 23 stolen bases and 17 walks. In the circle, junior Izzy Kemp (10-4) carries the team's low ERA of 2.61 to go with 135 strikeouts over 110.0 innings of work.

SCOUTING SAINT JOSEPH'S
Saint Joseph's (26-19, 13-7 A-10) is currently enjoying a five-game winning streak, including a three-game sweep of George Washington last weekend, and sits in third place in A-10 standings behind Saint Louis and Dayton. Sarah Cancila (.328) paces the team's offense with 44 hits, 35 runs scored and 11 stolen bases. Taylor Trowbridge (10-8) has seen the most action in the circle for SJU, working 106.2 innings and recording 73 Ks.

Saint Joseph's leads, 32-27-1
Last season, Dayton swept its three-game series against Saint Joseph's at UD Softball Stadium April 20-21 and the Flyers have won five of the last six meetings between the pair.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton was in Akron on Wednesday for a doubleheader against the Zips at Lee R. Jackson Softball Field and the Flyers came away with back-to-back wins. In game one, the Flyers scored the game-winner in the top of the seventh for a 1-0 victory and, in the nightcap, held on for a 9-7 win after the Zips' comeback bid fell short.

In the NCAA's most recent Rating Percentage Index (RPI) through games on April 21, Dayton ranked 144 according to NCAA.com. Saint Joseph's came in at 139.
