Baseball Comes Up Short At No. 17 Vanderbilt, 9-2

Ryan MacDougall Hit His Third Home Run Of The Season

NASHVILLE – The University of Dayton baseball team fell short at No. 17 Vanderbilt on Tuesday night, dropping the midweek battle to the Commodores 9-2 at Hawkins Field.

The Flyers' dynamic duo at the top of the order extended their respective hitting streaks, as sophomore Michael DiMartini and freshman Rylan Lujo both registered one hit in the game. Sophomore catcher Ryan MacDougall launched his third home run of the season, and redshirt sophomore Bobby Stang picked up an RBI.

Freshman southpaw Lukasz Rondeau tossed a career-high three innings in relief, slowing down the Vanderbilt offense by allowing just one hit in the middle innings.

UD plated the first run of the game on Stang's third-inning sacrifice fly, scoring DiMartini from third. Vanderbilt struck right back with six runs on just three hits in the next inning.
