DAYTON - The University of Dayton baseball team began their final series of the regular season out on the short end of an 8-4 contest at the hands of St. Bonaventure on Thursday afternoon at Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium.
The Flyboys came out swinging as
Michael DiMartini scored the game's first run in the home half of the first inning.
St. Bonaventure scored two runs in the top of the third inning and the Flyers answered with a two-run homer from DiMartini, his 12th of the season, to restore UD's lead heading into the fourth inning.
The Bonnies scored six unanswered runs in innings five, six and seven, when
Martin Howell sent a ninth inning homer over the left field fence for the Flyer's fourth run of the game.
Redshirt senior pitcher
Chris Peguero rose to sixth place in the UD Baseball Single-Season Strikeout Top Ten with seven in the game. Peguero now has 89 strikeouts on the season.
