Softball Closing Out 2025 Regular Season At Home Against George Mason

Flyers to Celebrate Seniors on Saturday

DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball team will close out its 2025 regular season this weekend with a three-game Atlantic 10 series against George Mason. The Flyers and Patriots are scheduled to play a 12 p.m. doubleheader Saturday followed by a single game Sunday, also at 12 p.m. Senior recognition will take place prior to Saturday's first game. ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (27-16, 15-5 A-10) has won five straight, including sweeping a three-game A-10 series at St. Joe's last weekend. The Flyers enter the weekend in second place in conference standings, behind only Saint Louis. UD's offense is paced by senior outfielder Emma Schutter (.394) with 56 hits, 46 runs, 28 stolen bases (20th NCAA), 20 walks and 10 doubles. In the circle, junior hurler Izzy Kemp (12-4) carries the team's low ERA of 2.42 with 11 complete games, four saves and 151 strikeouts over 121.2 innings pitched.

SCOUTING GEORGE MASON
George Mason (18-33, 9-14) has dropped six-consecutive league contests, mostly recently a three-game set against Loyola Chicago at home last weekend. Elyssa DeRosa (.299), one of only two Patriots to start all 51 games this season, leads the team with 44 hits, 27 runs and 26 walks. Abbey Lane (5-7) leads the Mason pitching corps with a 2.51 ERA and 54 Ks over 95.0 innings of work.

SERIES STUFF
Dayton leads, 20-12
Last season, Dayton and George Mason squared off in Fairfax with the Flyers coming away with a 2-1 series win. UD has claimed five-straight A-10 series over George Mason, dating back to the 2019 season.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton closed out a six-game week in Philadelphia with three games at Saint Joseph's. The weather moved things around a little, but the Flyers pulled out the series sweep of the Hawks to extend UD's winning streak to five. In the finale, Dayton downed St. Joe's 13-5 in six innings as the Flyers combined for 16 hits including sophomore Kirnan Bailey who had three hits, two RBI, two runs and a walk.

In the NCAA's most recent Rating Percentage Index (RPI) through games on May 1, Dayton ranked 114 according to NCAA.com. George Mason came in at 248.

• Cara Clark is in her 18th season as head coach of the Flyers in 2025. Her record at Dayton is 440-441-2 (.499) and Clark's career win-loss mark sits at 571-567-2 (.502) over a total of 24 seasons. In Atlantic 10 Conference play, she has tallied a 209-144 career record. Clark has tallied the program's most wins and holds the all-time best winning percentage at Dayton.
• Dayton has won the Atlantic 10 Regular Season title two times (2024, 2015) and the Flyers have captured the A-10 Championship title once (2024). In 2024, the Flyers made their 11-consecutive appearance in the A-10 Tournament. Over 15 appearances, UD has tallied a 19-28 record in the conference postseason championship.

Seedings for the 2025 Atlantic 10 Championship will be finalized Sunday after the conclusion of all regular-season games. The tournament is slated for May 7-10 and will be hosted by George Mason at GW Softball Field. Dayton will be making the program's 16th appearance in the conference tourney.
