DAYTON – The University of Dayton baseball team split its Atlantic 10 doubleheader with Richmond on Sunday, cruising to a 10-2 victory in game one before falling in the nightcap 15-1 at Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium.

Game One
Dayton 10, Richmond 2
The FlyBoys jumped ahead early, putting up three runs in the first off a
Bobby Stang sac fly to center field and a two-run double to right center from
Adin Zorn.
Ty Mainolfi drove in a run with a no-out double, making it a 4-0 Dayton lead, later coming around stealing third, then scoring on an errant throw into the outfield (5-0).
Back-to-back doubles from
Mason Dobie and
Alejandro Cazorla put the Flyboys up six. Cazorla comes in to score on a wild pitch (7-0).
The Spiders put two on the board at the top of the seventh, shrinking the lead to five (7-2).
Dayton capped the scoring by putting up three in the bottom of the eighth with
Dyrenson Wouters scoring on a wild pitch and a go-ahead two-run single from
Rylan Lujo.

Game Two
Richmond 15, Dayton 1
Dayton opened the scoring with a run in the third thanks to a lead-off double from
Michael DiMartini and a sacrifice fly by
Rylan Lujo after DiMartini swiped third.

Richmond answered with three runs in the top of the fourth off four hits and an error from Dayton, and added six more in the top of the fifth.

The Spiders continued their scoring in the top of the sixth, adding five more, and capped the game with one more in the seventh to lead to the mercy rule win.

Due to finals week the Flyers will not be in action during the week, and will return to play next weekend, May 9-11 at Fordham.
