- Facing a fourth-and-two on the same possession, the other half of the running back duo Luke Hansen converted a tough run to give the Flyers a first down and kept the drive alive.
- UD continued to pound the ball inside and ate up the clock en route to seven-yard touchdown pass from Bryce Schondelmyer to Gavin Lochow. The score made it 7-7 with just under five to go in the half.
- The Colonial quarterback went down at the 2:50 mark and had to go to the back up for the final two-minute drive. The Dayton defense stepped up once again and forced a turnover on downs.

- UD stayed locked in defensively and forced yet another punt on the following drive.
- Ethan Thulin had a 45-yard reception from Schondelmyer with under seven to go in the game, putting Dayton in great field position. Michael Mussari followed that up with a 24-yard catch to put it at the six-yard line.
- That set up a 21-yard field goal that Robby Smart drove right down the middle to give Dayton its first lead of the game.
