DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's soccer team scored a pair of second-half goals to lift the Flyers to a 2-0 Atlantic 10 victory over Duquesne on Sunday afternoon at Baujan Field.
The victory boosts Dayton to 6-3-2 on the campaign and 3-0 in the A-10, while the Dukes fall to 7-3-1 and 2-1 in league play.
UD got on the board in the 57th minute when sophomore
Liv Grenda played a Duquesne clear attempt to the ground, worked past a pair of defenders, and ripped a shot by the keeper to make it 1-0.
Just a few minutes later, the Flyers doubled their advantage on a beautiful bit of passing, as
Ky Hau-Golden fed Grenda in the box, who then tapped a pass to the waiting
Olivia Baca. Baca beat the keeper for her second goal of the season and put UD ahead 2-0.
Senior keeper
Batoul Reda and the Flyers' defense of
Caroline Schork,
Bre Mendoza,
Ella Raimondi and
Kyra Karfonta posted their fourth consecutive shutout and third of A-10 play. Reda stopped all five shots on goal from Duquesne.
Dayton doubled up the Dukes' shot attempts, 18-9, while out-pacing the visitors 9-5 in shots on goal.
