DAYTON – The University of Dayton volleyball team returns to the Frericks Center to take on George Washington in a two-match Atlantic 10 Conference series, Friday, Oct. 16 at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 17 at 1 p.m.
Friday's match will be the team's Breast Cancer Awareness night. Local organizations will be set up in the Frericks Center, and the first 150 fans will receive a t-shirt.
Both matchups between the Flyers and the Revolutionaries will be live-streamed: Friday's match through ESPN+ and Saturday's through daytonflyers.com.
ABOUT THE FLYERS
The team enters Friday's match with a 14-6 record and an undefeated 6-0 home record. The Flyers are coming off a split win-loss series against our previous opponent, the Saint Louis Billikens, making Dayton's A10 conference record 6-1. After traveling back to compete on their home court this weekend, the team hopes to continue their home-court advantage and keep their home win streak alive.
In Friday's win against the Billikens, fifth-year
Kaleigh Meritt and senior
Kamryn Hunt led the team with eleven kills each, and junior
Abigail Cresse led with nine total blocks. Saint Louis held the Flyers to a high standard each set, ultimately ending in the team's first regular-season Atlantic 10 loss since November 5, 2022, on Saturday.
ABOUT THE REVOLUTIONARIES
The Revolutionaries travel to the Frericks Center this weekend with a 9-10 record and a 4-3 record in Atlantic 10 conference play. George Washington is led offensively by junior Cayla Cogan with a team record of 191 kills and junior Abby Markworth with a high of 628 assists.
While they have an impressive record, the Flyers have a 21-game win streak against George Washington. With that in mind, Dayton is aiming to defend its home court and build momentum heading into next week's conference play.
UP NEXT
Following the weekend matches, the Flyers will continue Atlantic 10 conference play and take on Loyola Chicago at home. The games will take place on Friday, Oct. 23 at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 24 at 1:00 p.m.
