DAYTON - The University of Dayton football team will return home to host Morehead State on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 12 p.m. at Welcome Stadium. The Flyers have not hosted an opponent since Sept. 12, a 30-7 victory over Thomas More.Â
Dayton is coming off its first loss of the season at Drake, but still sits at 3-1 on the year. The Flyers are 2-0 at home in 2026 and look to carry that momentum into their first home PFL contest.Â
As a team, the Flyers lead PFL in interceptions, first down defense, punting, kickoff return defense, and ranks second in scoring defense. UD is averaging 28.0 points per game while holding opponents to just 17.8 points each outing. The Flyers are getting 191.5 yards per game through the air and 173.8 yards per game on the ground.Â
Dayton's offense is powered by senior quarterback
Bryce Schondelmyer (725 yards, 59.7% completion percentage) and the rushing duo of seniors
Luke Hansen and
Mason Hackett (43 carries each). Senior receivers
Michael Mussari (23 catches, 2 TDs) and
Gavin Lochow (20 catches, 1 TD) are the threats on the outside as well.Â
The defense on the other hand has seen a lot of new faces step up for Dayton. Transfer
Ross Coppock leads the team with 29 tackles, 22 solo, while sophomore
David Curl III has 4.5 sacks and an interception in his first year as a starter.Â
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Morehead State is looking to get back on the winning track after dropping its last three games. The Eagles come to UD with a 1-4 record on the year and 0-1 PFL mark. Morehead State's lone win came in triple overtime against Ohio Dominican to start the season.Â
Head coach Jason Woodman is in his third season at the helm of the Eagles, leading the program to 7-5 in his first campaign and 6-6 in 2025.
Overall, the Eagles are a disciplined group with the sixth fewest penalties per game in the country. MSU is scoring 25.4 points each outing but giving up 45.0 points to opposing squads. The Eagles get most of their yards through the passing game at 231.6 each contest.
Morehead State has seen six different players take a snap this season, led by David Parsons (60-for-119, 10 TDs, 7 INTs). Craig Cunningham has been the main rushing threat at 120 yards and two touchdowns while Anthony Ice has 21 catches for 392 yards and three scores.Â
Defensively, 14 different Eagles have recorded at least a half tackle for loss while Josh Bowling has a team-high three sacks. Lane Sumerel leads the way with 32 tackles, 16 solo and 16 assisted.Â
SERIES HISTORY
Dayton and Morehead State are meeting for the 31st time in program history with the Flyers leading the series 20-10. UD won last year's contest 35-28 on the road, but lost at home in 2024.Â

Dayton will head back out on the road to take on Butler University Saturday, Oct. 17 at 1 p.m. in Indianapolis.
LAST OUTING
• Dayton suffered its first loss of the season in a 30-22 defeat at Drake this past Saturday. The Flyers rallied from an early deficit to make it a one score game, but were unable to overcome the host Bulldogs.Â
• Morehead State opened PFL play with a 37-3 loss at home to Valparaiso. The Eagles managed to score first with a field goal on the opening drive, but were blanked 37-0 the rest of the way.Â
