#FlyBoys Start Series With Ohio With 7-4 Win

Martin Howell Began UD’s Scoring With A Three-Run Home Run

ATHENS, Ohio – The University of Dayton baseball team opened the weekend with a 7-4 win over Ohio.

With Ryan MacDougall and Grayson Carpenter on base, Martin Howell hit a home run into left center, taking a 3-2 Dayton lead. After Colin Lynch was hit by a pitch, Jason Bello hit a double to the fence, tallying the FlyBoys' fourth run of the game in the top of the fifth.

Howell's bat stayed hot in the seventh, hitting a sacrifice to first base, giving Carpenter the chance to score, advancing the UD lead to 5-2.

Ohio narrowed the score to 5-4 in the bottom of the eighth, but a sacrifice fly to center field by Dyrenson Wouters added back to the Flyers' lead. Bello walked with bases loaded, making the score 7-4 with one inning to go.
