ATHENS, Ohio – The University of Dayton baseball team won its sixth-straight game, winning the second game of the series with Ohio 7-4.
The FlyBoys continued a strong non-conference performance, improving to 7-2 to close out February.
Dayton got out to an early 4-3 lead thanks to RBI singles by Dyrenson Wouters and Michael Smith Jr. in the first inning. In the second, Wouters added another run with a double down the left field line. Martin Howell singled to right field to add to the Flyers' lead.
Neither team crossed the plate again until the eighth inning. With the bases loaded, Bobby Stang singled to left field, allowing Tommy Ahlers Jr. and Howell to score. After stealing third, Smith Jr. scored on a wild pitch for UD's seventh run.
Michael Fortes earned the win, his second on the season. Lucas Collins got the save.
