DAYTON – The University of Dayton baseball team split Sunday's doubleheader, dropping game one 12-9 before taking a 9-6 win in game two.
The first of the doubleheader went a full nine innings. Game two was cut short in the eighth due to darkness.

The FlyBoys started the game with a 4-0 lead in the opening frame with RBI singles by Martin Howell and Michael Smith Jr., a steal of home by Colin Lynch and an RBI double from Bobby Stang.
After Ohio responded with three runs in the second, Howell kept Dayton in front with a sacrifice fly to center field. The Bobcats put up nine unanswered runs from there to win the first game.

The Bobcats tied the game in the top of the seventh at six apiece, but a two-RBI single by Carpenter gave the FlyBoys back the lead. Aiden Heberlie made it to third on a fielder's choice, stealing home for Dayton's final run of the day.
