ST. LOUIS – The University of Dayton baseball team opened conference play with an 8-3 loss to Saint Louis on Friday night.
The Billikens put up eight runs through the first seven innings of the game.
In the top of the eighth, Danny MacDougall hit a double into left field to put Dayton on the board. With Grayson Carpenter on third, he took advantage of a wild pitch to tally another run. Michael Smith Jr. singled into right center, allowing a third run to cross the plate.
Aiden Heberlie and MacDougall each got a hit in the top of the ninth, but SLU stayed in front to win the game 8-3.
