ST. LOUIS – The University of Dayton baseball team dropped the first game of a doubleheader against Saint Louis, winning the final game of the series 12-2.
Dayton ends the series against Saint Louis 1-2 against the Billikens.
GAME ONE
Dayton 1, Saint Louis 9
Saint Louis took a 6-0 lead, holding onto it into the seventh.
In the top of the seventh inning, Colin Lynch singled into left field, giving Aiden Heberlie the scoring opportunity and preventing the shutout.
In the bottom of the same inning, the Billikens tallied three more runs for a 9-1 game.
GAME TWO
Dayton 12, Saint Louis 2
In the top of the second, Heberlie scored another run, this time on a single by Grayson Carpenter.
After Saint Louis evened the game, Bobby Stang hit a home run for a 3-1 lead.
The FlyBoys added an insurance run in the seventh on a fielder's choice.
Dayton hit five RBI singles in the eighth inning, adding on three runs on a hit by pitch and two walks.
