DAYTON – The University of Dayton baseball team faltered in Friday's game against VCU, falling 17-7 to the Rams.
The FlyBoys got on the board first with Danny MacDougall scoring in the bottom of the first.
After VCU pulled ahead in the second, Dayton regained the lead on a two-RBI single by Colin Lynch and a hit by pitch for a 4-2 score.
In the fourth, VCU posted eight runs, including three on two home runs.
Dayton cut the lead by one with a single by Ryan MacDougall in the fifth, but the Rams tallied another five runs, pulling ahead to 15-5 before tacking on another run in the seventh.
In the seventh and eighth innings, the FlyBoys scored on sacrifice flies by Dyrenson Wouters and Aiden Heberlie.
