#UDSB In Fairfax For Three-Game A-10 Series At George Mason

Flyers and Patriots Step Back Into Conference Action this Weekend

DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball team is heading to Fairfax, Va., today to play three Atlantic 10 contests at George Mason over the weekend. The Flyers and Patriots will play two Saturday beginning at 12 p.m. followed by a single game Sunday, also at 12 p.m. All games will be held at George Mason Softball Complex and admission is free.

ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (13-11, 4-5 A-10) went 1-1 in its two midweek games, besting visiting Northern Kentucky, 9-4, on Tuesday before falling to Cal, 12-7, Wednesday in a neutral-site game at Ohio State. The Flyers' offense is led by junior Deirdre Flaherty with a .364 average and 20 RBI while junior Kirnan Bailey (.346) has 27 hits, 23 runs scored and 23 stolen bases (6th NCAA). Senior righty Izzy Kemp (7-3) carries the team's low ERA of 1.80 (36th NCAA) with 128 strikeouts (6th NCAA) over 74.0 innings of work.

SCOUTING GEORGE MASON
George Mason (14-15, 3-6 A-10) claimed a 5-3 win over James Madison on home on Wednesday after dropping three conference games at Saint Joseph's over the weekend. Tess Altevers Harris (.376) is one of three Patriots hitting above .300 and she has tallied a team-best 32 hits, 10 doubles, 22 RBI, 14 walks and 14 stolen bases. Abbey Lane (7-4) leads the GM pitching corps with a 3.02 ERA and 46 strikeouts over 83.1 innings pitched.

SERIES STUFF
Dayton Leads, 22-12
UD and GM closed out the 2025 regular season in Dayton last year as the Flyers took two wins over the Patriots on May 4 in a weather-shortened series.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton's come-from-behind bid fell short against Cal on Wednesday evening in a neutral-site contest hosted by Ohio State. After falling behind, 10-0, the Flyers scored four unanswered runs before falling to the Golden Bears, 12-7. Sophomore Mickie Shively went 3-for-4 at the plate, her first multi-hit game of the season, with two RBI while junior Deirdre Flaherty and sophomore Camrynn Linneman each knocked out a home run.

RPI RANKINGS
In the NCAA's most recent Rating Percentage Index (RPI) through games on March 26, Dayton ranked 196 according to NCAA.com. George Mason came in at 204.

UP NEXT
Dayton continues its nine-game road stretch with two midweek games next week. On Tuesday, Dayton will be at Ohio State for a single game at 2 p.m. followed by another single game matchup at Providence on Thursday at 2 p.m. The Flyers will then play a three-game conference set at against the Rams of Rhode Island April 3-4 in Kingston.
