DAYTON – The University of Dayton baseball team fell 18-5 to Saint Joseph's, going 0-3 against the Hawks this weekend.
Trailing 5-0, Michael Smith Jr. hit a home run to right field, putting the Flyers on the board in the bottom of the third.
St. Joe's responded with a three-run home run in the fourth to take an 8-1 lead, which Ryan MacDougall cut with an RBI double down the right field line to make it an 8-2 game in the fifth.
The FlyBoys tallied three runs in the seventh inning off a sacrifice fly by Colin Lynch and a two-run home run by MacDougall.
Saint Joseph's recorded six runs in the eighth and ninth innings to lock up the game.
