BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The University of Dayton baseball bounced back on Tuesday with a 19-6 win over Bowling Green.
Dayton scored two runs in the first inning with RBI singles from Michael Smith Jr. and Ryan MacDougall.
Bowling Green took a 3-2 lead, but the FlyBoys regained their lead with an electric seven-run inning in the third. Jason Bello pulled Dayton ahead with a two-RBI single. Mark Rutherford recorded his first RBI of the season and the Flyers' third RBI single. After Grayson Carpenter was walked, Danny MacDougall hit a grand slam to left field for a 9-3 lead.
After the Falcons cut the Flyers' lead by three, an RBI single by Dyrenson Wouters, an RBI double by Mark Rutherford and a run on a ground out by Grayson Carpenter extended the score to 12-6.
Wouters tallied another RBI in the fifth, this time on a sacrifice fly to center field.
In the sixth, Danny MacDougall earned his fifth RBI on a single, before stealing second while Grayson Carpenter stole home. Colin Lynch doubled to right center, marking every player in the lineup getting a hit and allowing Danny MacDougall to score the FlyBoys' 16th run.
Rutherford opened scoring in the seventh with an RBI double to right field. After Jason Bello scored on a wild pitch, Danny MacDougall beat a double play attempt with Rutherford scoring Dayton's 19th and final run of the day.
