RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Dayton baseball team stands split with Richmond, after falling to the Spiders 16-6.
The Spiders started the game with a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the first. In the top of the second, Jason Bello hit a two-run home run in left field. With the bases loaded, Colin Lynch singled to center field to make the score 6-3.
After Richmond pulled back out ahead by six runs, Dyrenson Wouters hit a two-run home run, cutting the Spiders' lead to 9-5.
Richmond tacked on runs in the bottom of the third and fourth for a 12-5 lead, until Ryan MacDougall had a solo shot to right field in the top of the seventh to tally Dayton's final run of the day.
The Spiders scored four runs between the seventh and eighth innings, ensuring their win.
