#UDSB Set For Midweek Matchup At Butler Wednesday

Flyers and Bulldogs to Square Off at 3 p.m. in Indianapolis

DAYTON - The University of Dayton softball team is set to take on Butler Wednesday in the Circle City. First pitch between the Flyers and Bulldogs is set fro 3 p.m. at Butler Softball Field and admission is free.

ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (21-8) is coming off a 1-2 weekend at Saint Louis in Atlantic 10 Conference action. The Flyers opened the series on Saturday with a 4-0 complete-game shutout win for senior Izzy Kemp. UD's offense is paced by junior Deirdre Flaherty with a .389 average, nine doubles and 33 RBI while junior Kirnan Bailey (.370) leads the team with 47 hits, 34 runs and 38 stolen bases (1st NCAA). Bailey's 0.97 stolen bases per game also ranks first nationally. Kemp (14-6) carries the team's low ERA of 2.04 (31st NCAA) with eight complete games and 233 strikeouts (2nd NCAA) over 130.1 innings of work. Her 12.5 strikeouts per seven innings also ranks second nationally.

SCOUTING BUTLER
Butler (19-17) picked up a 2-1 Big East series win at Georgetown this past weekend, downing the Hoyas on Saturday and Sunday after dropping the series opener on Friday. The Bulldogs' Makena Alexander (.441) leads one of five players hitting above .300 for the season and has 12 home runs, 50 RBI and 28 walks while Hailey Conger (.412) paces the team with 47 hits and 45 runs. In the circle, Rylyn Dyer (4-3) holds a 4.68 ERA over 16 appearances while Katie Petran (4.85) leads the team with eight wins, six complete games and 51 strikeouts over 70.2 innings.

LAST TIME OUT
On Sunday, Dayton fell behind early at Saint Louis and was not able to recover. The Billikens claimed the 2-1 A-10 series win in the rubber match, defeating the Flyers, 8-0 (5 inn.).

RPI RANKINGS
In the NCAA's most recent Rating Percentage Index (RPI) through games on April 19, Dayton ranked 206 according to NCAA.com. Butler was ranked 192.

UP NEXT
With a bye from conference play this coming weekend, Dayton will head over to Pittsburgh for a Saturday doubleheader at Pitt. The Flyers and Panthers will get underway April 25 at 1 p.m. at Pitt's Vartabedian Field and admission is free.
