Baseball Picks Up Sweep Of St. Bonaventure In Doubleheader

Dayton Hit Three RBI Triples In Game Two

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The University of Dayton baseball team wrapped up the weekend with a pair of wins in a doubleheader against St. Bonaventure.

The FlyBoys won the first game with an 8-0 shutout in the shortened, seven-inning game. In game two, UD won 7-6, improving to 9-12 in the Atlantic 10.

GAME ONE
Dayton 8, St. Bonaventure 0

In the top of the first, Ryan MacDougall and Colin Lynch grounded out, allowing runs to score for a 2-0 lead.

Danny MacDougall walked with bases loaded to score the Flyers' third run.

With two outs in the top of the seventh, Ryan MacDougall hit a single to left center, allowing Grayson Carpenter to score. Tommy Ahlers Jr. singled to third base to extend the FlyBoys' lead to 5-0. It was followed up with a two-RBI single to center field by Bobby Stang. Grayson Carpenter singled up the middle for Stang to come home and score Dayton's final run of the first game.

John Delgado pitched a complete game, striking out seven batters and allowing just two hits.

GAME TWO
Dayton 7, St. Bonaventure 6

Michael Smith Jr. set the tone early with an RBI triple in the first. He scored on a groundout from Dyrenson Wouters for a 2-0 lead, which the Bonnies responded to with three runs in the bottom of the inning.

Wouters tripled to left field, tallying another RBI. Lynch singled through the left side, bringing home the shortstop to regain the lead. It was short-lived, however, as St. Bonaventure pulled back out in front to make it a 5-4 game.

In the fifth inning, Ryan MacDougall hit a solo home run to right field to tie the game at five apiece.

Jason Bello tripled to right center in the seventh inning, allowing two runs to score for a 7-5 FlyBoys lead. The Bonnies tallied a run in the bottom of the seventh, but Dayton held on to its lead to sweep the day and series.

UP NEXT
The Flyers will face Akron in a home game on Tuesday, April 28 at 3 p.m. The game will be a Dollar Dog Day for fans.
