DAYTON – The University of Dayton baseball dropped its final home game of the 2026 season in a 9-5 loss to George Mason.
The FlyBoys scored first, courtesy of a three-run home run to right field by Ryan MacDougall.
George Mason tied the game at three apiece in the fourth, pulling ahead to 5-3 in the fifth. Jason Bello hit a single up the middle in the bottom of the inning to allow Michael Smith Jr. to score, advancing to second on an error and making it a one-run game.
The Patriots widened their lead in the seventh inning with a solo home run and an RBI on a groundout. In the bottom of the inning, MacDougall hit another homer, rounding the bases alone for a 7-5 score.
In the eighth, George Mason continued to pull ahead to make it a 9-5 final score.
