MASON, Ohio – The University of Dayton baseball fell to Notre Dame 16-6 at Prasco Park on Tuesday evening.
Danny MacDougall led off the game with a solo home run to left field. The Fighting Irish stormed ahead 5-1 in the bottom of the first, tacking on another run in the second.
The FlyBoys cut into Notre Dame's lead in the third, tallying runs on a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly by Jason Bello for a 6-3 score.
After the Fighting Irish took a 12-3 lead, Michael Smith Jr. hit a sacrifice fly to right field in the seventh. Grayson Carpenter then took advantage of a wild pitch, scoring another run for Dayton. Bello singled up the middle, allowing MacDougall to come home and score the Flyers' final run of the game.
Notre Dame posted three more runs in the seventh on a home run, tacking on the winning run in the eighth to end the game.
