DAYTON – The University of Dayton baseball team attempted a comeback in the bottom of the ninth inning but fell short against La Salle, 6-5.
The Explorers took a two-run lead in the second and third innings on a groundout and a solo home run.
In the fifth inning, Bobby Stang hit an RBI single to right field to make it a 2-1 game.
After La Salle posted four runs in the eighth, the FlyBoys responded with four of their own in the bottom of the ninth. With the bases loaded, Ryan MacDougall hit a double into deep right field and clearing the bases. Jason Bello doubled to the left field wall for a one-run game.
