DAYTON – Junior
Lauryn Contini notched her first goal of the season in the 89th minute to lift the University of Dayton women's soccer team over Toledo, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon at Baujan Field.
Contini's tally came as the Flyers increased their pressure in the final 15 minutes, breaking a scoreless drought of 68 minutes.
Dayton's first goal of the season was from junior
Olivia Baca, who found the back of the net in the 21st minute after a nifty setup from junior
Bre Mendoza and freshman
Reese Gallagher.
Toledo got on the board first with a seventh-minute tally, but UD controlled play for the majority of the match.
UD finished the game with 34 shots (nine SOG) while Toledo finished with 10 (five SOG). The Flyers had 11 corners to the Rockets' four, while Toledo had seven saves to Dayton's four.
