FAIRBORN, Ohio – The University of Dayton volleyball team wrapped up the Tru by Hilton Beavercreek Invitational, falling to Wright State in five sets (22-25, 27-25, 25-22, 21-25, 7-15).

The Flyers struck first on an ace by Natalie Harrington, but the first set quickly favored Wright State. Dayton kept in it, tying the match at 21-21 on a block from Abigail Cresse and Charlotte Vinson before taking a narrow lead on an attack error. After a Raiders timeout, Wright State won four straight points to win the first set.

Dayton started the second set on a five-point run. Kills from Vinson and Hunt began the run with an ace for Sidney Sprada, making it a 3-0 set. Cresse and Hunt teamed up for a block, widening the lead to 5-0 on an attack error. Leading 8-3, back-to-back kills for Addi Gallentine widened the Flyers' lead to 10-3 before taking a 13-3 lead on errors by Wright State, ending the run on a kill for Sprada. Wright State tied the set at 25 apiece, but a pair of errors for the Raiders helped Dayton win the second set 27-25.

The third set began with the Flyers up 3-0, holding out in front of Wright State. A four-point run took advantage of a pair of Wright State errors for an 11-6 Dayton lead. UD kept out ahead of the Raiders, ending the set on a kill from Sprada.

The Flyers went on another five-point run to open the fourth set, including an ace for Hunt, a block assist for Machin Borges and Gallentine and a solo block for Sprada. The Raiders took a 12-9 lead, but Dayton rallied back on a kill for Hunt and a pair of block assists to tie the set, pulling ahead 13-12 on an ace for Rylee Sloss and another kill for Hunt.  Dayton was leading 21-19, but Wright State went on a six-point run to tie the match at two sets apiece.

In the fifth set, Wright State got out to an early 5-1 lead. Dayton was able to get within three with a kill by Machin Borges at 5-2, but the Raiders were able to power ahead to win the match.
