Biography

2011: Played forward in all 23 games totaling her career high of 1065 minutes… Notched a hat trick in the first game of the season, a 7-2 win over Middle Tennessee State (08/19)… Attempted 28 shots in the 2011 season… Contributed two assists in the Atlantic 10 Championship 5-1 win against Massachusetts (11/06)... Grant earned the Stacey Martin Memorial Award, which is voted on by the players, and is given out annually to a member of the team who demonstrates leadership on and off the field.

2010: Played in 21 games for the Flyers in her junior campaign...tallied nine shots with two of those being on goal...was vital in offense as she finished the season with three assists...her first assist came against Loyola Chicago (9/17/10), second against Fordham (10/1/10) and her last was at Duquesne (10/22/10)...Was named Second Team OCSA Academic All-Ohio.

2009: Was a key asset coming off the bench for the Flyers seeing action in 15 games this season…  Scored first career goal as a Flyer in a shutout against Temple (Sept. 25)… Played a season high 54 minutes against Duquesne (Oct. 18)...logged key minutes in Dayton’s first and second round NCAA Tournament games against Marquette (Nov. 13) and Virginia Tech (Nov. 15)...finished the season with a .400 shot-on-goal percentage.

2008: The first European soccer player to compete for the Flyer women's soccer program...Played strong minutes in 11 games this season...Took one shot in Dayton's 4-1 win over Duquesne (Oct. 19)...Logged a season-high 55 minutes in Flyers' 2-0 win at Ball State (Sept. 21)... Named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and UD Dean's List for Fall 2008.

Coach Tucker on Josie Grant - "Our first European player, Josie possesses a feel for the game unusual to many Americans. She grew up playing primarily against males and she has more than held her own! Her skills and tactical awareness, as well as her physical presence will allow her to play effectively anywhere on the pitch. She plays with enthusiasm and a high work rate. Josie has played with and against some of the top youth players in England."

Prep: A three-sport athlete in both soccer, netball, and track and field....As a four-year member of the Nelson Thommlinson high school football team, she was a three-time team captain and helped her squad to the North West County Championship title in 2004...She played for the Blackburn Rovers club team from 2001-2004...In 2005, she was named player of the year as a member of the Carlisle City club team...Currently a member of the Windscale Ladies FC...In other sports, while playing netball for the Cumbria Netball team she was named the captain and defensive player of the year in 2003...The following year she earned player of the year and player's player of the year honors ...In track, she earned second place in the Javelin in the North West Regional in 2003, took third place in the pentathlon in 2004 and second place in the heptathlon in 2005...Was a first place finisher in the 2005 Junior Girls County Pentathlon.
