MBB Season Tickets FAQ

2021-22 Season Tickets

Thank you for your ongoing support of UD Athletics as we navigated the past year of uncertainty. We know that this time has come with many unexpected challenges but we feel confident that each day we move closer and closer to a return to normalcy. At this time, we are planning for a traditional start to the 2021-22 basketball season.

Limited Capacity/COVID-19 Guidelines

  • Will the capacity of UD Arena be limited for the 2021-20 season?
    • We still do not know with any degree of certainty what spectator capacity at UD Arena may be throughout the basketball season, but it certainly will be less than we all hope. The Ohio Department of Health has currently set the maximum number of patrons permitted in an indoor entertainment venue to be the lesser of 300 patrons or 15 percent of fixed seating capacity, so for UD Arena, 300 is the lesser of the two. We will be submitting a variance request plan that differs from these capacity limits, but approval of any plan must be from both the Montgomery Board of Health and the Ohio Department of Health.
  • Will I be required to wear a face mask attending events at UD Arena?
    • Yes, masks will be required for all fans over the age of 2 at all times within UD Arena, consistent with the state-wide mask mandate.
  • Will the concession stands be available during the 2020-21 season?
    • Yes, however due to health and safety standards as set by the state and local officials, concession offerings will be limited to pre-packaged, sealed and goods.
  • Will Flyer Spirit be available during the 2020-21 season?
    • Yes, however due to health and safety standards as set by the state and local officials, access may be limited to a small number of patrons at any one time.
  • I have tickets for a Premium Seating area where food service is normally available (ex. suites, loge seats, club seats). Will this amenity still be offered?
    • Food and beverage in some capacity is anticipated to be offered in premium areas, to premium seat holders only. However, specifics have not been determined at this point.  Season ticket holders in these areas should anticipate reduced or limited offerings. Premium Seat Holders with specific questions should reach out to Courtney Graham at cgraham1@udayton.edu or (937) 229-5112.

Arena Seating Program (ASP) Contributions

At this time returning season ticket holders will find your Arena Seating Program (ASP) invoices have been made available on My Flyer Account. Your annual contribution to the Arena Seating Program is a non-tax-deductible gift to the University. Contributions made as part of the Arena Seating Program will be used to support athletic programming during the academic year in which the basketball season is played.

Payments can be made online, over the phone, or by mail. If you plan to mail in a check payment, please write your account number in the memo field to ensure payment is applied properly. Your account number is listed in the top right corner of your invoice. The deadline to make your payment in full OR enroll in a payment plan is June 30, 2021.
  • I paid my Opt In Deposit and requested that any unused balance be rolled over to the 2020-21 season. Why don’t I see this reflected as a credit on my 2021-22 Arena Seating Program invoice?
    • The University of Dayton recognizes your Arena Seating Program contribution as a non-tax-deductible contribution. Therefore, account credits cannot be applied to these invoices. If you paid an Opt In Deposit for the 2020-21 season and it was not used during the season, you will see this reflected as a credit on your 2021-22 season ticket and parking invoice.

Season Tickets & Parking

  • Will I receive a full season ticket and parking invoice?
    • At this time, we are planning to issue full season ticket and parking invoices.
  • When will I receive my season ticket and parking invoice?
    • While there may still be some COVID-19 related issues that cause delays in finalizing our regular season schedule, we are hopeful that we will be able to stick to a relatively normal billing schedule. That means we expect to issue full season ticket and parking invoices in July as we normally do or by August, at the latest.
  • I paid my Opt In Deposit and requested that any unused balance be rolled over to the 2020-21 season. Will I see this reflected as a credit on my 2021-22 season ticket and parking invoice?
    • Yes, the amount you paid for your Opt In Deposit will be applied as an account credit automatically to your 2021-22 season ticket and parking invoice if you elected to have the balance rolled over.

COVID-19 Impact on the 2021-22 Season

With the availability of a vaccine we are hopeful that there will be minimal, if any, impact on the 2021-22 season due to COVID-19.

Arena Seating Program
Athletics recognizes your annual contributions to the Arena Seating Program as a non-tax-deductible gift to the University, and it is typically not refundable. However, with the future of COVID-19 hard to predict for the second consecutive season, we plan to make a temporary change in policy. In the unlikely event that the public health restrictions require us to operate at limited capacity and you are not offered the opportunity to attend any games, you will have three options for your full seat donation.
  1. Convert your seat donation credit to a fully tax-deductible gift to the Champions and Scholars Fund
  2. Receive credit toward future season’s Arena Seating Program
  3. Receive a full refund for the arena seating donation.

If you are offered and accept the opportunity to purchase any tickets (even one game), per IRS guidelines that is considered a benefit. Therefore, you will not be able to convert any amount of your ASP to a tax-deductible donation or credit, nor receive any refund.
  • If I do not receive tickets for any games during the 2021-22 season is my ASP refundable?
    • Yes, if you are not offered nor accept tickets for any games during the 2021-22 season you may elect to have your required, annual contributions to the Arena Seating Program refunded. Alternatively, you could also choose to have your 2021-22 Arena Seating Program contribution converted to a fully tax-deductible gift to the Champions & Scholars Fund or rolled over to the 2022-23 season.
  • If I only receive tickets for one game during the 2021-22 season is my ASP refundable?
    • No, if you are offered and accept the opportunity to purchase any tickets (even one game), per IRS guidelines, that is considered a benefit. Therefore, you will not be able to convert any amount of your ASP to a tax-deductible donation or credit, nor receive any refund.
  • Is the ASP contribution tax deductible?
    • No, current tax law does not allow a deduction for charitable gifts made for the right to obtain seating at college and university athletic events.
Tickets, Parking, & Guest Care
In the event that you are not offered the opportunity to attend any games or individual home games are cancelled, a prorated refund of all 2021-22 season ticket, parking, or guest care expenses will be issued commensurate with the number of home games impacted.

Seat Move Requests

  • Am I still able to submit a seat move request?
    • Yes, fans wishing to upgrade or downgrade are still encouraged to submit their requests.
  • How do I submit a seat move request?
  • How are seat move requests prioritized?
    • As with almost all other Athletics-related benefits, seat move requests are prioritized in order of lifetime philanthropic giving to UD Athletics. Tenure as a season ticket holder is used as a tiebreaker.
  • I submitted a seat move request but haven't heard anything from the UD Arena Ticket Office. Does that mean I won't be getting a seat move?
    • Based upon renewal and opt-in figures for the 2020-21 season,  we anticipate another year of extremely high renewal rates. As a result, we will likely have very few open seats to use for seat moves. By comparison, in a typical year we receive anywhere from 500-800 individual seat move requests. Unfortunately, that translates to very few seat change requests being able to be fulfilled. We encourage all fans to continue placing seat move requests but know these figures are very common year-to-year and due to the lack of seat availability and sheer volume of requests, most go unfilled.
  • When will you begin addressing seat move requests?
    • We will begin addressing seat move requests after the Arena Seating Program contribution deadline has passed.
  • How long does the seat move process take to complete?
    • The seat move process is still handled manually by our staff. Therefore, this can be a very long and time consuming process. The speed at which we are able to move through the list also depends upon a variety of factors including the number of open seats, the number of seat move requests we received, and how quickly we receive responses from season ticket holders.Typically we are able to complete the process by early October but we will continue making seat moves until all requests have been fulfilled or there are no more seats available, whichever comes first.

Mobile Ticketing

As we announced prior to the start of the 2020-21 season, UD Arena has transitioned to entirely digital ticketing. Moving forward, all tickets will be accessed through your My Flyer Account. An email address is required. For more information, please visit our Digital Ticket Guide.
