Â

- You can rest assured that at Premier Health, our care lives here for you and your loved ones – now, and when we've come through this crisis together. We are confident in the resilience of this region. We truly believe we will come out of this stronger than ever. Â
- Please visit our COVID-19 site (www.premierhealth.com/covid19) for additional information and learn how you can help.
- COVID-19 TESTING: Testing for COVID-19 plays an important role in determining effective treatment and prevention efforts for this disease and is a key aspect to re-opening our country. By testing people who are actively showing symptoms, medical providers can determine the proper course of treatment – which may be self-quarantining at home. Testing for antibodies after the illness passes can provide peace of mind regarding previous symptoms.  In partnership with the University of Dayton, the team from Premier Health, Fidelity Health Care, and CompuNet Clinical Laboratories continues to provide drive-up collection services at UD Arena, 1801 Edwin C. Moses Blvd., one of the longest running collection sites in Ohio. Two types of COVID-19 testing are now available at this site – a screening test for people with current COVID-19 symptoms (requires a physician order) and an antibody test for people who are not currently experiencing symptoms.  The collection site only provides testing related to COVID-19. Those who visit the collection site for antibody testing should wear a mask if they have one.  Please note: Visit our website for additional details as hours are subject to change. Premier Health has also implemented universal COVID-19 screening testing of patients admitted to our hospitals. This testing enhances our care, leading to quick identification of cases, quick treatment for those who need it, and immediate isolation to prevent spread.Â
- SOLVING FOR CRITICAL PPE NEEDS: Premier Health; FastLane, the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) for West Central Ohio, housed within the University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI); and Industry Products Company (IPC) of Piqua, a manufacturer of automotive cargo and trunk systems, acoustic and water shield solutions and protective in-transit materials; are collaborating to solve for the potential shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) and to meet the challenge of keeping health care workers safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. The collaborative effort is one of several Ohio initiatives to bring much needed PPE to the state's healthcare industry under the recently formed Ohio Manufacturing Alliance to Fight COVID-19.
- CONVALESCENT PLASMA THERAPY: Now, there is a way for those who have recovered from COVID-19 to potentially aid in our fight against this pandemic through convalescent plasma (the liquid part of blood that is collected from patients who have recovered from an infection) donation through our partnership program with the Community Blood Center. Antibodies present in convalescent plasma are proteins that might help fight the infection. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently authorized the emergency use of convalescent plasma by doctors for current patients with serious or immediately life-threatening COVID-19 infections, or those judged by a health care provider to be at high risk of progression to severe or life-threatening disease. Premier Health was the first health system in the nation to enroll a COVID-19 positive patient in this therapeutic treatment using that the Mayo Clinic's protocols for convalescent plasma therapy.Â
- TELEHEALTH OPTIONS: To minimize the risk of coronavirus exposure to yourself and others, we offer several convenient telehealth options to consult with a trusted health care provider from home.
- HELPING HANDS: During this unprecedented time, many of you have reached out to express your support for our hospital teams and caregivers. It means so much, and we thank you deeply for your care – especially as you deal with your own challenges. Thank you for thinking of us and for being part of our Premier Health family. Some have asked how you can further assist. Please know that your offers are most welcome and are of immeasurable value. To ensure your safety and the appropriate utilization of all donated resources, we ask that you coordinate offers of assistance in advance by emailing us at HelpingHands@premierhealth.com. Our team will be happy to provide additional guidance for those who wish to provide support.Â
Â

- In early March, we made a "No Layoff" pledge.  To be there for our clients, we felt it was important to make a commitment to our employees and eliminate any concerns about their jobs. As a result of Ohio's "Stay at Home" order, our employees initially all worked from home and we're now in the process of slowly transitioning back to the office. While face-to-face meetings have been temporarily suspended due to social distancing guidelines, we remain only a phone call away.Â
- Throughout this crisis, we have been busy interviewing candidates for available positions as we continue to expand our team. We were able to connect with a number of high-performing professionals who sought out new opportunities after being furloughed. On May 18, we welcomed five new full-time employees to our team. This new hire group included UD alumnus, Nick Tarkany. Nick was a goalkeeper during his time at Dayton on the Men's Soccer team.
- We remain active in the community and continue to provide relief to those who need it most. Most recently, we were happy to donate 220 reusable masks to St. Mary Development for their Mask Donation project.
- This June, we will ramp up our fundraising efforts that support our corporate partnership with the Alzheimer's Association of Miami Valley and Greater Cincinnati Chapters. Follow us on Facebook (Facebook.com/RetireMEDiQ) to learn how you can give back to the local community by participating in our Carryout for a Cause campaign and more!Â
Â
