"I like the fact that Eric has dedicated himself to working through the ranks and dedicated himself to the profession," said Miller. "I believe he is an excellent and up-and-coming young coach who will do a tremendous job for us in the operations position."

In his first season, 2007-08, the Flyers vaulted out to a 14-1 record and a No. 14 ranking in the Associated Press poll of January 14, the highest ranking for a Dayton team in 40 years. The Flyers finished the season 23-11 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NIT.

In 2009-10, Dayton was a Top 25 Team for the third consecutive season. The Flyers 2009-10 campaign was highlighted by the NIT Championship and a 25-12 record. In Farrell’s first four seasons on staff, the Flyers 97 wins marks the most in any four-year period in the program’s tradition-rich history.

In 2013-14, Dayton went 26-11 and reched the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament before losing to top-seeded Florida. On the road to the Regional Finals, Dayton defeated Ohio State, Syracuse, and Stanford. It was the Flyers first Regional Final in 30 years.

Prior to being promoted to Assistant Director of Basketball Operations in May 2011, Farrell was a Graduate Assistant with the Dayton men's basketball program from 2007-2011.  His duties included assisting the coaching staff on the floor during practices, assisting the coaching staff with video scouting, managed the operations of summer camp and participated in day-to-day operations with the team.
