Norris began the season at the Flyer 5k where he ran 16:38.1. At the National Catholic Invitational he ran 26:59. Norris improved this time at the All-Ohio Championships running 26:48. At the NCAA Pre-Nationals he was the 12th Flyer with a time of 27:23. Norris ran a season best 25:50 at the Atlantic 10 Championships.
2011
Norris competed in five varsity races this season and was consistently the teams’ seventh best runner. He contributed an average mile time of 5:22.3 throughout the season and ran a season-best time of 26:26 at the A-10 Championship 8K in Terre Haute, Indiana. Norris finished in 6th place at the Flyer 5K, 7th at the National Catholic Invite 8K, 6th in the All-Ohio 8K and 7th at the A-10 Championships. In addition, he is ranked 24th all-time of the “Harrier Heroes”, the Top 35 five-mile best times for Dayton Flyers runners. Norris also has the 18th best 10K time at UD.
2010
Norris made the most of his rookie campaign by earning the team's Most Improved Award. In addition, he was one of just five runners to participate in all seven of the team's varsity races. Of these five, Norris was the lone freshman. Doug worked hard throughout the year and it showed. In his first four races, Doug finished 7th, 6th, 7th, and 6th on the team, respectively. He finished with a season best time of 26:00 on September 11 at the Mel Brodt Invite 8K in Bowling Green, OH. Despite his early success, Norris continued to push forward, and in the team's final three races, he finished 6th, 5th, and 4th on the team, respectively.
High School
Norris was a seven-time Ohio High School State Championship Qualifier in track and cross country... He was runner-up at the 2009 Greater Western Ohio Conference Championship...He was an Academic All-Ohio Cross Country selection...He placed third in the 3200 at the 2009 State Indoor Championships and fourth in 2010...Also placed fourth in the same event at the 2009 State Track and Field Championship...His personal best times are 9:24 in the 3200m in track and 15:44 in the 5000m in cross country...Was the Salurorian at Butler...Was also captain of the the Butler swim team.
Personal
Son of Dan and Carol Norris...his mother ran track at Ohio University and his father played hockey at Bowling Green State University...He has two younger brothers Michael and Nathan...Doug was born Dec. 21, 1991...Accounting major.
