2011 Men's Cross Country Roster
Biography
2011
Roeth was named the teams’ Most Valuable Runner as he compiled an amazingly consistent and impressive season for the Flyers. Roeth ran in first position for UD at every meet this season and earned Atlantic-10 “All Conference” status for the second consecutive year. He set a new personal best 8K time of 24:28 at the Atlantic-10 Championships as he finished 3rd out of 140 runners individually and helped the Flyers to a 4th place finish overall. With that mark, Roeth made history by running the 4th fastest 8K time ever by a Flyer. His record was also one of the eight “Top-50 All-Time Flyer 8K Performances”. This personal record ranks as one of Greg’s eight “Top-50 All-Time Flyer 8K Performances.”In addition, Roeth also ran another personal best time of 31:24 at the Great Lakes Regional 10K. This time is the 6th fastest performance in team history and ranks as one of Greg’s three “Top 25 All-Time Flyer 10K Performances”. Roeth competed in every varsity race for the Flyers and had an overall mile pace time of 5:00.7, the best on the team.
2010
After a remarkably successful season as a redshirt freshman, Roeth looked to carry some of the 2009 season over to 2010. He did just that, and then some. Bettering his personal best time of 2009 by nearly a full minute, Roeth turned in a 24:29 mark in one of the season's biggest meets, the NCAA Pre-Nationals 8K race. Missing just one varsity race all season, Roeth finished 3rd on the team five times and 2nd the other. At the Flyer 5K Challenge, Roeth helped secure a second place finish with a 15:20 time. Two weeks later at the National Catholic Invitational 8K, Roeth finished in 25:19. At the All-Ohio Championship 8K, Roeth took home the team's third best time at 24:55. At the A-10 Championship 8K, Roeth finished in 24:53, good for an 8th place overall finish to earn Atlantic 10 All-Conference honors. In the season's last meet, Greg ended in 32:34 at the Great Lakes Regional 10K.
2009
After sitting out during the 2008 season, Roeth was able to come back and make a splash during the 2009 fall slate for the Flyers. Named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year, he turned in the top time (27:38) of all the freshman at the conference meet. His finish of 25th overall helped the Flyers to a third place finish, which was the best in program history. A scorer at every meet, Roeth had a sixth-place finish at the season-opening Flyer 5K and an 11th place standing at the Mel Brodt Invitational, which were both races the Flyers were able to win as a team. His personal best came at NCAA Pre-Nationals, where he ran the course in 25:17 overall to place 116th.
