Biography

2008
Matt Peters, a team co-captain, was unable to compete in any races during the 2008 fall season due to injury.

2007
After a solid sophomore campaign, which included track personal bests in the 1500 meters and 3000 meter steeplechase, Matthew Peters picked up in 2007 right where he left off by placing sixth at the at the Flyer 5K in a time of 15:29. He participated in four races, including a 15th place finish at the National Catholic Invite where he set a 25:45 personal best. This clocking gave Matthew the 32nd ranking on the All-Time Top 8K Performances list at UD. Peters looks to be a major contributor in 2008, as he will enter the season as the 10th fastest Harrier Hero.

2006
Matthew Peters had a tremendous track season in the fall and winter. He was the anchor to the school record-setting Indoor 4x800m Relay team at Cedarville University. He also ran personal best times of 4:23 in the indoor mile and 15:28 in the 5K at Miami University, which was the fastest 5K on the team. Come fall, Matthew showed that he was a very valuable member on the team by finishing as the third-man in every race he ran but the Spiked Shoe Invitational where he finished fourth. Racing six of the seven varsity races, Peters recorded his season best time at the Spiked Shoe Invitational and the BGSU Falcon Invitational (26:49). At the A-10 Championships he ran very well, finishing 48th overall and third for the team.

2005
Peters, another member of the impressive freshman class, had a very good first year. He competed in all seven varsity races and ran well enough to score in four of them, including a fourth place finish at the Flacon Invitational and three fifth place finishes. His 8K personal best of 26:44 (26th on the Harrier Heroes list) was set at the National Catholic Invitational, and again at the Atlantic 10 Championships where he ran the same time on a more challenging course. With a year of experience under his belt, Peters can build off his season and improve this spring as well as next fall.
