High School
VanHook was an all-around athlete while attending Mason High School. She was a two year member of the varsity soccer team and spent four years on the varsity track team. She qualified for the state meet of Ohio four straight years and was a member of the relays that placed seventh in the 4x400 meter relay in 2008 and eighth in the 4x800 meter relay. VanHook was named to the GMC First Team in 2010 and the Second Team in 2008, 2009 and 2011. Her track feats were extraordinary but were not to be outdone by her work in the classroom. She graduated with a 4.76 GPA and was in the top 10 percent of her class. She was named to the Academic All-Ohio Team three times (2009-11). She also won the Gold Key in Scholastic Arts and Writing Competition in 2009.
