Isa Ar-Razi joined the Dayton women’s soccer staff in July 2016. As the volunteer assistant coach he will work with the team in preparing the players physically, technically and tactically, and will also help with any other day-to-day operations.
The native of Trinidad and Tobago is also the director of coaching for the Thunder United Metro FC where he oversees all management and soccer-related activities at the club. He’s held this position since 2011. Prior to that, he was the coach and trainer of Ohio Galaxies FC in Dayton, Ohio from 2006-2011. He was a coach of CUSA in Centerville, Ohio from 2001-2010 where he trained numerous age groups in basic and advanced soccer tactics and techniques.
In addition, since 2009, Ar-Razi has served on the Olympic Development Program District and State staff.
For nine years he was a teacher at the International Academy of Cincinnati (INTAC) in West Chester, Ohio from 2004-2013, teaching physical education to K-eighth grade and serving as a guidance counselor for fourth-sixth graders. He was selected as the recipient of the INTAC Service and Recognition Award in 2010.
Ar-Razi was a four-year starter at Wright State University, where he played for Coach Hylton Dayes and Mike Tracy from 1999-2002. As a senior, he captained the team, plus earned the Coach’s Award and Greg Andrules Award for being an outstanding WSU soccer representative. He was a two-time winner of the WSU Raider Award. He was also part of the Athlete Mentor Program at WSU.
He graduated from WSU with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in chemical dependency rehabilitation counseling.
Ar-Razi played for the Trinidad and Tobago National Youth team in 1995 and 1998, and was given the Trinidad and Tobago Media Award for most outstanding scholar-athlete in 1998.
He holds the USSF National A Coaching License and the NSCAA Advanced National Goalkeeping License, as well as the NSCAA Director of Coaching certificate.
Ar-Razi currently lives in Middletown Ohio.
