Alyssa D'Errico

Alyssa D'Errico joined the Dayton volleyball staff in January of 2017 and will be in her sixth year on staff during the 2022 season. She serves as the recruiting coordinator and her on-court focus is blocking and defense. D'Errico was promoted to Associate Head Coach prior to the 2019 season.

D'Errico spearheaded the team's 2020 PrepVolleyball.com Recruiting Class Highest Honorable Mention Recognition as well was nationally ranked recruiting classes in 2016 and 2018 as the program's recruiting coordinator. As the team's defensive coordinator, she mentored two-time Atlantic 10 Libero of the Year Margo Wolf and 2021 A-10 Libero of the Year Maura Collins.

She currently serves as a Junior Volleyball Recruiting Association Division I Advisory Board Member. During the 2020-21 academic year she was the A2 West Boys Volleyball Club Lead Tier Trainer. D'Errico was selected as a 2020 U.S. Girls Youth National Training Team Assistant Coach but, unfortunately, the season was cancelled due to COVID-19.

D'Errico has worked with USA Volleyball in several capacities over the last few years including serving as an A1 Select Assistant Coach during the summers of 2016 and 2017, an A1 Select Program Head Coach in summer 2018 and 2019 and also as a part of the Youth National Team Holiday Program during the winters of 2016, 2017 and 2019 at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. During May of 2017, D'Errico served on the coaching staff of the U.S. Collegiate National Team - Thailand Tour. She was also recognized by the AVCA as one of its Thirty Under 30 honorees in April of 2018.

A former professional player and four-time NCAA National Champion at Penn State, D'Errico spent the 2015 and 2016 seasons as an assistant coach at Louisville and helped lead the team to the program's first ACC Championship. Prior to UofL, she played three seasons as a libero overseas on the professional circuit, including stops in Spain, Croatia, and France. In 2011-12, she played in Spain for Feel Volley Alcobendas Club in the Superliga and was MVP of the Princess Cup. She continued her career in Split, Croatia, playing for ZOK Split 1700 in the top league, where she helped guide her team to the semifinals, taking a match off perennial powerhouse Rijeka, for the first time in club history. Her final professional season landed her in the top French league (LNV) playing for Istres Ouest Provence Volleyball, helping guide the team to a quarterfinal appearance.

A 2010 graduate of Penn State, D'Errico is the only player in NCAA Division I volleyball history to have won four national championships after winning state championships in her last three years of high school. She was also a part of numerous streaks including the record-setting 109-consecutive-match win streak and a 65-match Big Ten Conference win streak. Penn State was undefeated in Rec Hall (PSU's home court) and won 24-consecutive NCAA tournament matches during D'Errico's time with the team. The three-year captain capped her career with a Big Ten Conference Pre-Season All Big Ten Selection and a post-season Honorable Mention All Big Ten Selection. She finished her career with 1,245 digs (eight all-time at Penn State) and 146 aces (seventh overall). Off the court she earned 2010 ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District II team honors, the 2011 NCAA Woman of the Year Award, was the 2011 Student-Athlete Advisory Board "Above and Beyond" Award Recipient and the 2010-11 Clyde "Pops" Team Award Recipient. The three-time Big Ten All-Academic team led her team to four Big Ten Conference Championships.

After her playing career, she spent a year as a volunteer assistant at Georgetown University in 2012. In other coaching stops, D'Errico also jointly ran US Elite Volleyball Camps with former Nittany Lions Blair Brown Lipsitz and Max Lipsitz. She served as the Director of Camper Development for TriState Elite Volleyball Camps and as one of two head clinicians for their recruiting showcase alongside Jen Flynn Oldenburg. Highly touted for her volleyball IQ and high-level playing experiences, she was chosen as a clinician for high school and club coaches at both the OHSVCA (2011, 2012, 2018, 2019) convention and New York State clinics (2014, 2019). D'Errico has coached in various clubs including Virginia Elite (2012) and Virginia Juniors (2014), as both an assistant coach and a head coach, respectively, while also serving as a high school assistant coach for the Thomas Edison Eagles in Alexandria, Va.
