DAYTON, Ohio - More than 30 Dayton men's soccer alumni from as far away as California, Texas and Florida will return home to Baujan Field to celebrate 50 years of UD men's soccer this weekend.
They will be recognized at halftime of Sunday's game versus Rhode Island that will feature the Atlantic 10's top goal scorers - Rhode Island's Jeffrey Gonsalves and Dayton's Caleb Lindemann. Rhode Island (5-3-3, 2-0-0) has lost just once in its last seven games and owns a share of first-place in the conference. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
Friday's tilt at 7 p.m. features teams in search of their first win since Sept. 15. The Flyers (4-5-0, 0-1-0) lost to No. 1 SMU, had their game against Wright State rained out and lost 2-1 Saturday to Xavier. UMass (6-4-2, 0-2-0), which started the season 6-0-1 and received votes in the national polls, has not scored a goal in the last five games (0-4-1).
In between, two teams of alumni will square off at 10 a.m. Saturday on the practice field on the former NCR property. A reception follows in the Time Warner Flight Deck at UD Arena. The reception costs $10 a person. Contact Neil Sullivan at 937-229-4861 to register or for more information.
